It all started in...
1997. Kothenia and Kowanda Gunn decided to open a wing restaurant of their own, called T'Wanz Wings. The first year in business proved to be very successful when the Gunn girls made $100,000. The following years saw a seesaw of good and bad revenue, leaving the business with only one owner, Kothenia, aka Mrs. K. After a couple of years, confusion developed as to whether T'Wanz Wings was a Chinese restaurant, so Kothenia decided to change the name to K's Buffalo Wings. She started in Thomson, Georgia, then moved to Augusta, and a second location in her hometown of Warrenton, GA.
K's Buffalo Wings opened in February 2016 and is located on the 8th block of Broad Street. Since then, local celebrity, Mrs. K has been serving both quality interpretations of classic dishes and daring new ventures into the uncharted territories of food.
The interior, designed by Mrs. K and partially by what was left of an old Orange Julius restaurant, reflects the hip sensibilities of the surrounding area while also paying tribute to Augusta's own James Brown.
